I’ve seen a lot of glee hunger games videos going around, but I rarely see any that didn’t just use Katniss, Peeta and Gale’s names, so I thought I’d see if I could do it. Some parts still have to use Katniss/Gale/Peeta/etc’s voices, but this has more of the glee cast’s lines and voices than most of the videos I’ve come across.
I also messed around with the colors of the glee clips, tried to get that blue-ish, dark tone that’s in the hunger games videos.

I got goosebumps when Tina got up and took action. And damn that girl can run fast.
She’s fearless.
Usually, (or maybe the more appropriate term is lately) it’s in subtle, less aggression-driven ways (unlike what we always see from the likes of Santana, Quinn and Rachel). It was in how she stood up to her boyfriend’s dad because she knows that dancing is part of Mike’s very soul. It’s everything that he has always been, and it’s his fate and destiny. She could see that and she fought tooth and nail to make sure that nothing would get in the way of that. We saw this subtle Tina in Season 3.
But there are times when we also see a Tina that’s pushed to her very limit, stretched taut until she reaches her breaking point. One time was when she put her foot down and refused to just let Artie’s offensive comments slide by. Another was when she stood up for herself, for her style, for her individuality and right to express herself when Figgins banned her clothing.
And there’s this episode, where she’s tired of being forced to lie down and watch the guys do all the fighting. This is a girl who isn’t afraid of fighting for herself. She wants to get out there and DO something instead of waiting for something to happen, instead of watching other people, particularly guys, get it done for her. This girl is one that appreciates being fought for, but more importantly, is also more than willing to fight for herself.
And damn, I can’t help but think that Tina’s character is pretty tragic at this point. If you look closely at her through Season 1 and 2, you’ll see her development from the shy, quiet, anti-social kid to a badass girl who isn’t afraid of standing up for herself and the things she believes in. From the goth kid who only wears black to this girl who seems pretty happy and content, in pastel colors.
It’s tragic because there was so much potential in there. They could have taken the time to figure Tina out more instead of bringing in a hell of a bunch of new characters (although I adore Sugar) and shoving random unnecessary performances (and Finchel kisses) down our throats.
And it’s sad because this Tina… this Tina just wants a song, and I wish the fearless Tina of Season 1, Season 2 (and I guess one episode of Season 3) will stand up and say, “Stop laughing at me. I DESERVE a song. I was here from the start. I have never EVER left this club, never abandoned it in its time of need. I joined this club to sing, not to sway behind Rachel, Finn, Blaine and Santana.”
…sigh.
(I love Santana, don’t get me wrong. But sometimes I feel bad for Tina. And don’t get me started on how much Quinn’s life sucks)
and I wonder why Harry didn’t leave with him. (they had like the same number of lines and solos throughout season 1) (and it didn’t get much better for Harry until Season 3)
And I admire Jenna for still staying even if Tina’s so mute that it’s depressing to think about, and the writers manage to joke about her lack of solos.
And Heather for still showing up on shooting day when they’re constantly cutting her lines and screwing around with her character.
And Mark, for dealing with a character that’s currently regressing back into the screwed up player we thought Puck had grown up and away from. And is also starting to just fade away into the background because the writers don’t know anymore what to do with him.
Like… thinking about it. I respect them for still sticking around. I personally would feel upset if these four members of the cast left out of frustration. We fans love them even if glee kind of sometimes maybe possibly i don’t even know doesn’t.
I’m friggin’ excited. And I’ll probably have to stay far, far FAAAR away from tumblr tomorrow, because I bet it’s going to be exploding with spoilers and gifs.
One of the reasons I’m looking forward to this episode is because it looks like the intensely neglected couples are finally getting some screen time. (they’re going to get friggin’ flashbacks! that would mean totally unambiguous scenes involving THEM)
While I’m not crazy enough to get my hopes up about a Brittana kiss and Finn being shot (sigh), I’m looking forward to seeing Brittana, Tike and Samcedes.
I mean, check it! They’re the neglected minorities- the Latina and Dumb Blond, the Asian/s and the Black [and White] (not being racist, just being honest. the show kind of shoves them to the background a lot)
And admittedly, I’ve been missing Wemma, because it’s seriously about time. Emma deserves to be happy, and things have been going quite well between her and Will now, I’ll be glad to see them finally tie the knot. (and it’d be so awesome if she and Will finally got it on because that’d be like a huge, touching step for Emma)
Klaine. As much as I support that ship, I have to admit that the show won’t die if it stopped being the Klaine and Finchel show for a while. PLEASE. Besides, the next MJ episode is practically promising to be FULL of Klaine.
Finchel. Oh dear Lord Tubbington. This episode is SURE to be FULL of them. And I just don’t care. Finn can join the army and die, I would not mind, I swear. But I know that there are A LOT of rabid Finchel people out there, and I understand that RIB needs to shove their faces against the screen every so often to keep the ratings up. But I still don’t care for them.
Tike and Samcedes- I’m a casual shipper of these two, but I think they’ve got a lot of potential, and I’m REALLY looking forward to seeing more of them.
Brittana- THE GLANCE! (sex locker/first locker/ pervert locker/ ___ locker) I think I’ll melt into a puddle of mindless drool when that scene shows up. And I’m so looking forward to the scene that’ll have us hitting replay countless times. I hope it’ll be worth all the frustration caused by I Hugged a Girl.
Also, I hear Santana’s going to be giving her girl Mercedes some back up. I’m looking forward to that. I’m also really looking forward to seeing Santana channeling her aggression down paths that are more defensive than offensive. From what I’ve been hearing from Keck and some others, we’re going to be seeing more of that side to Santana, and that’s going to be AWESOME.
