They were never “just” friends in the first place, and now trying to pretend they just had a lapse of judgement in their “friendship” might have even bigger consequences than the I kissed a girl episode.

This x 100000. Even if they never get back together, spewing dialogue that gives the impression that they were only really ever best friends is incredibly damaging to the young lesbian and bisexual girls that watch this show.

I think that a line needs to be drawn at this point. Too many young lesbians and bisexual girls are being disrespected by a show that they have sweated blood & tears to make a success. They’ve been grossly mistreated by Glee for a long while (certainly since the start of season 3) and they have done nothing to deserve such treatment … except give their loyalty to a show that doesn’t deserve it.

FOX should be bombarded with emails explaining in detail why Glee is so harmful and strongly suggesting that the show should not be picked up for a 5th season. GLAAD & The Trevor Project should be bombarded with emails and letters explaining why Glee is harmful to lesbians and bisexuals — this is not a one time thing but rather a pattern of long-term harmful behavior toward their highly invested, highly loyal lesbian & bisexual audience. It should be made clear to both organizations that by involving the cast in Glee in any of their efforts, they legitimize the discrimination against lesbians and bisexual girls.

I’d also suggest emailing your local papers or alternative press websites and explaining that this isn’t a case of a storyline not going the way you want it to — this is systematic erasure of the girl-girl couple on Glee for absolutely no good reason.

Anyone who believes in equality or who cares about women should be taking a stand against this show. It’s actually long overdue.
